Rome is loved by millions of tourist every year and we are definitely a part of them. It’s historical architecture, tourist attractions, cute streets and most important to us – delicious FOOD – Pasta, Pizza, Tiramisu and Gelato, will leave you speechless.

Rom wird jährlich von Millionen von Touristen besucht und wir gehören auf alle Fälle dazu. Die historische Architektur, Sehenswürdigkeiten, kleinen Gassen und am wichtigsten für uns – leckeres Essen – Pasta, Pizza, Tiramisu und Eis, werden euch verzaubern.

Best time to travel to Rome

Rome can be visited the hole year. The temperature is still enjoyable during winter. It’s popular and crowded by tourist, especially during summer, but you can still find peaceful cute little streets to avoid the heat.

Rom ist eine bei Touristen beliebte Stadt, speziell im Sommer. Trotzdem ist es möglich ein stilles Plätzchen zu finden, um den Massen und der Hitze zu entfliehen. Selbst im Winter sind die Temperaturen angenehm, so dass man Rom das ganze Jahr über besuchen kann.

How to get to Rome and fast from Airports to the City

Rome airports are Ciampino and Fiumicino. We arrived at Fiumicino and took the Leonardo Express (about 30 minutes to the Central Station Termini) Ticket cost 14 € per Person. Just follow the signs „Treno“ (Trains). Ciampino is connected with shuttle buses to the city.

Roms Flughäfen sind Ciampino und Fiumicino. Wir haben ab Fiumicino den Leonardo Express genommen, der uns in etwa 30 Minuten für 14 € pro Person zum Hauptbahnhof Termini gefahren hat. Einfach den Schildern mit der Aufschrift „Treno“ (Züge) folgen. Vom Ciampino aus fahren Shuttle Busse in die Stadt.

Getting around Rome

Rome does have a subway, but it doesn’t run through the historical Center, so we prefer to stroll around and take a walk through the cute little streets.

Verkehrsmittel

Rom hat zwar eine U-Bahn, die es aber zum einen zeitlich nicht so genau nimmt und zum anderen nicht die historischen Sehenswürdigkeiten anfährt. Wir bevorzugen es deshalb, durch die Stadt und ihre kleinen Gassen zu schlendern.

Colosseum – Colosseo (Via della Salara Vecchia, Roma, Italia)

When in Rome the first place we go to, is always the Colosseo located in the center of the City. If you go there, you will know why. Even Nero’s fire could not burn down the largest amphitheater of the world. Going inside on the Colosseum Tour will leave you speechless. If you buy a Combiticket cost 12,50 € per Person, you can also visit the Forum Romanum next to the Colosseum.

Kolosseum

Sobald wir in Rom ankommen, geht es zuerst ins Herzen der Stadt, zum Kolosseum. Wer dort gewesen ist, weiß warum. Nicht mal Nero’s Brand 64 v. Chr. konnte das größte Amphitheater der Welt zerstören. Die Colosseum Tour drinnen, raubt einem den Atem. Mit dem Kombiticket für 12,50 € kannst du zusätzlich das nebenan gelegene Forum Romanum besuchen.

Trevi Fountain – Fontana di Trevi (Piazza di Trevi, 00187 Roma, Italia)

Rome does have a lot of Fountains with drinkable water, so you can refill your bottles while strolling through the city. To get a chance to enjoy the Trevi Fountain by yourself, get up before sunrise. Don’t forget to throw a coin with your right hand over your left shoulder into the fountain. The myth says that you will return one day.

Trevibrunnen

Rom hat viele Brunnen mit Trinkwasserqualität, so dass man seine Wasserflaschen beim Spazieren auffüllen kann. Es empfiehlt sich vor Sonnenaufgang aufzustehen, um den Trevibrunnen – vielleicht – nahezu alleine genießen zu können. Der Legende nach kehrt man irgendwann nach Rom zurück, wenn man eine Münze mit der rechten Hand über die linke Schulter hinweg, in den Brunnen wirft.

Spanish Stairs – Piazza di Spagna (Piazza di Spagna, 00187 Roma, Italia)

It takes 135 steps to get to the top and you will feel like Sylvester Stallone in Rocky 😉  the view from the top is gorgeous and worth the pain. The steps are loved, so you won’t find them not packed with people, if your not getting up before sunrise.

Spanische Treppe

Wer die 135 Stufen bestiegen hat, wird sich wie Sylvester Stallone in Rocky fühlen. Für die Qualen wirst du aber mit einer grandiosen Aussicht belohnt werden. Die Spanische Treppe ist sowohl bei Touristen, als auch einheimischen sehr beliebt, so dass sie nie leer sein wird, ausser du stehst vor Sonnenaufgang auf.

Pantheon (Piazza della Rotonda, 00186 Roma, Italia)

The Pantheon is impressive outside and magical inside. It has an open dome, so that sunbeams make this place so special. I fit rains the water flows out through the draining system.

Das Pantheon ist eindrucksstark von außen und magisch von drinnen. Die Kuppel ist offen, so dass Sonnenstrahlen ein besonderes Licht erzeugen. Wenn es regnet, fließt das Wasser durch das durchdachte Bewässerungssystem einfach ab.

Rome – Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II – Piazza Venezia

This white marble monument was built in honor of Italys first king. The view from there is really impressive.

Das Denkmahl aus weißem Marmor wurde zu Ehren des ersten italienischen Königs errichtet. Die Aussicht über den Platz ist wirklich beeindruckend.

Vatican City

Vatican City is the smallest country of the world. Even it it’s small, it is visited by millions of tourist year by year. You can visit the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Square with the Basilica and the Vaticans Museum.

Der Vatikan ist der kleinste Staat der Welt und wird trotzdem von Millionen Besuchern jährlich besucht. Innerhalb der Mauern kannst du die Sixtinische Kapelle, den Petersplatz mit Petersdom und die Vatikanischen Museen besuchen.
